Bunker Valentin

Buildings and monuments

The Bunker Valentin is a historical memorial to the tragic fate of more than 10,000 forced labourers during the Second World War.

Listen now!

Originally built as a submarine shipyard for the German navy, the building was converted after the war, first into a materials depot and later into an educational centre and memorial. The largest free-standing bunker in Germany has been free of charge for visitors since 2015. An information centre and an exhibition of authentic photo and video material document the turbulent history of the site. A tour with 25 stations supported by an app and multimedia guides allows visitors to gain fascinating insights into the past based on eye-witness reports. In addition to the information available, the Bunker Valentin also puts on a range of cultural events to ensure the tragedies of the past are not forgotten.
