In the Rosengarten Zweibrücken, 45,000 roses bloom in a picturesque park area. More than 1,500 different species and varieties of roses bloom in a stylishly designed environment of trees, flowers, and ponds. The small rose museum and the café Dornröschen invite you to visit. From May to September, there is a varied entertainment program: picnics in the park, flower markets, open-air concerts, theater, and Qi Gong.
The landmark of the city and a focal point not only for garden enthusiasts from around the world is the Zweibrücker Rosengarten – a green oasis in the midst of the city. For the queen of flowers, the court has been planted here. More than 1,500 different rose varieties bloom and thrive in a stylishly designed environment of trees, flowers, and ponds over more than 50,000 sqm. The development of the rose garden began as early as 1912 when the Pfälzer Rosenfreunde association decided to hold an open-air rose show in Zweibrücken. On June 20, 1914, the Zweibrücker Rosengarten was ceremoniously opened by Princess Hildegard of Bavaria. Even at that time, over 42,000 roses bloomed on an area of 26,400 sqm. After its complete destruction by air raids in March 1945, it was again the members of the Pfälzer Rosenfreunde association who revived the garden and celebrated its reopening in 1948. Over the years, the park has been expanded and redesigned several times and shone in 2004 under the motto “90 years of Zweibrücker Rose Magic” in all its splendor. The style of the 1950s can still be found, combined with modern architectural design. It is precisely this symbiosis that gives the park its unmistakable charm – along with the countless spring bloomers, trees, shrubs, grasses, summer, and autumn flora, pavilions, fountains, sculptures, and much more. “Europe’s Rose Garden” creates connections far beyond borders, as connoisseurs can find the largest selection of French roses in Germany here. However, the cultural park “Europe’s Rose Garden” is by no means just a botanical garden but also a venue for numerous cultural events. Every Sunday afternoon from May to September, the Rosengarten concert series invites you to outdoor culture, and numerous special events such as family day with picnic in the park, classical open-air, open-air theater, festival of 1,000 lights, and much more enchant visitors. There is also something educational for you on the program: what you have always wanted to know about roses will be revealed to you by the rosarians in regularly held seminars. Visitors will learn tips and tricks “across the garden” during an expert-guided tour.
