Visit us in the beautiful town of Jagsthausen, where Gaius and Götz say „hello“!

Listen now!

Welcome to Jagsthausen

The life of Götz von Berlichingen, who lived from 1480 to 1562 and became famous as a knight with the iron hand, was wild and full of feuds. He spent the first years of his life at Jagsthausen Castle, the ancestral seat of the von Berlichingen family. The castle museum presents numerous utensils from the family property, also the original iron hand of the knight. In addition, many Roman finds prove that a Roman fort was built on the Limes here as early as the 2nd century.

The highlight of Götzenburg is the annual castle festival, which takes place from June to August: In addition to musicals and plays, Goethe's Götz von Berlichingen is performed at the original venue - an impressive experience in a historical setting!

Due to its charming location in the Jagst Valley, the festival venue Jagsthausen is also recommended with many beautiful walking, cycling and hiking trails through an almost untouched natural landscape.
