Visitors interested in the cultural history of the Palatinate will learn plenty of interesting facts in five permanent collections (Prehistory, Roman Times, Cathedral Treasures, Modern Times and Wine Museum).
Outstanding exhibits include the Golden Hat of Schifferstadt from the 14th century BC, the Celtic Ring from Rodenbach from the 4th century BC and the centaur's head from Schwarzenacker from the 2nd century BC. The building also houses the cathedral treasures and the Wine Museum.
Munich-based architect Gabriel von Seidl designed the building, which was inaugurated in 1910, as a four-wing palace complex. In order to bring the museum up to the latest standard, it was completely renovated at the end of the 80s and a new building was constructed to house temporary exhibitions.
PfalzCard holders get free admission to the collection exhibitions.
