Welcome to Keramikmuseum Westerwald

We are into clay - The Ceramics Museum Westerwald presents the fascinating history of working with clay. Many of our exhibited objects have a long journey behind them. Some vessels made it to the other end of the world. Most of the exhibits have their origins in a Westerwald clay pit. Visit us and embark on a journey through time that began more than 40 million years ago and has lost none of its magic to this day.

Johannes Vermeer, Claude Monet, Max Pechstein, George of England, Empress Augusta, N'Goran Koffi, Henry van de Velde: all were enthusiastic about the Westerwald stoneware. Find out the reason and let yourself be infected. The contemporary and artistic use of the ceramic material is shown in special exhibitions and promoted through competitions.

The mediation of our history and present is important to us. Therefore we have an individual program for each age group. In our well-equipped museum workshop, you are also welcome to become creative yourself under expert guidance.

Do you want more?

Höhr-Grenzhausen is not only the cradle, but also the modern center of ceramic handicraft. In the surrounding area you will find many pottery workshops, which you are welcome to visit. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)
