Welcome to Landau Zoo

Landau Zoo in the Palatinate - On the lookout for exotic animals... !

See over 900 exotic animals just a few minutes' walk away from the city centre of Landau! Near-natural enclosures, great insights and photo opportunities. Petting zoo, playground, children's birthday parties, holiday programme and great guided tours for all ages. Dogs are also welcome.

At the entrance to the zoo, our guests are welcomed by dromedaries, which also adorn the logo of the popular Landau Zoo. On the circular path through the approximately 4.5 hectare, tree-covered park, guests encounter public favourites such as Siberian tigers, ring-tailed lemurs known from the film "Madagascar" with their black and white curly tails, meerkats, penguins, small-clawed otters, zebras and other animals from over 110 different species. Preserving endangered species is one of the main responsibilities of modern zoos. The scientifically led Landau Zoo is involved in 28 coordinated conservation breeding programmes (EEP) and displays very rare species such as Sudan cheetahs, white-naped mangabeys, red-vented cockatoos, Visayan warty pigs and Prince Alfred's deer. For the latter two considered jewels of the Philippines, a new state-of-the-art facility was inaugurated in the autumn of 2020. The petting zoo, lovingly designed in the style of an old Palatinate farmstead, offers close contact with miniature goats and sheep and is also home to miniature pigs and rare breeds of rabbit and chicken. Zoo visitors get up close to the animals in the walk-in aviaries for African and South American birds and in the Bennett's wallaby enclosure. The award-winning Zoo School offers a great programme all year round, from exciting lessons, birthday parties and private tours to stag parties. Once a month, the zoo management team offers free Sunday tours, which sometimes include a sneak peek behind the scenes. An annual zoo ticket is up for grabs at an exciting quiz on the subject of species conservation. The zoo team looks forward to your visit!
