We wish you much enjoyment during your visit to the Zoo Landau in der Pfalz!
Experience over 900 exotic animals just a few minutes' walk from downtown Landau! Nature-friendly enclosures, great insights and photo opportunities. Petting zoo, playground, organized children's birthday parties, holiday programs, and great tours for all ages. Dogs are welcome.
Already at the entrance of the zoo, our guests are greeted by dromedaries, which also adorn the logo of the popular Landau Zoo. On the circular path through the approximately 4.5-hectare park-like area, you will meet crowd favorites such as Siberian tigers, the ring-tailed lemurs known from the movie "Madagascar," meerkats, penguins, dwarf otters, zebras, and other representatives from over 110 animal species. The conservation of particularly endangered animal species is one of the primary tasks of modern zoos. The scientifically managed Landau Zoo participates in 28 coordinated breeding programs (EEP) and showcases very rare species such as Sudan cheetahs, white-crowned mangabeys, red-vented cockatoos, Visayan warty pigs, and Philippine deer. For the last two mentioned "jewels of the Philippines," a new, state-of-the-art facility was inaugurated in the fall of 2020. The lovingly designed petting zoo, styled like an old Palatine farmstead, offers close animal contact with dwarf goats and sheep and is also home to mini pigs and rare breeds of rabbits and chickens. Zoo guests can get up close to the animals in the walk-through aviaries for African and South American birds or in the Bennett's wallaby enclosure. The award-winning zoo school offers a great program year-round, from engaging lessons to birthday parties and private tours to bachelor parties. Once a month, the zoo management offers free Sunday tours, some of which provide a backstage look. In an exciting quiz about species conservation, you can win a zoo annual pass. The zoo team looks forward to your visit!
