Do not be surprised if you first learn more about the building than the exhibited art at the Frieder Burda Museum. This is simply due to its unique architecture and finest location. New York architect Richard Meier described the museum, which opened in October 2004, as a "jewel in the Park". Along the famous Lichtentaler Allee in Baden-Baden, he realised an extraordinary, light-flooded architecture in which the interior and exterior space, modern art and the surrounding old park landscape enter into an ongoing dialogue.
The ambitious "Daylight Museum" is located in the immediate vicinity of the Staatliche Kunsthalle, which was built 100 years ago. For the first time in Germany, state cultural mission and private cultural engagement are uniquely combined.
No less attractive is the exhibition program, which offers a change of masterpieces by famous artists of classical modernism and the private collection of Frieder Burda. With a total of eight works, the collection has a convincing work complex of the late Picasso.
