The direct ancestors of the Dutch King Willem-Alexander lived here. The magnificent baroque palace complex was built in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. There are guided tours of the Blue and Gold Hall, the Constable's Hall, the ‘Garden Cabinet’, the Garden Terrace, the Palace Chapel, and the Nassau-Oranien Museum, which documents the history of the Dutch royal family.
Oranienstein Palace is also the venue for the Oranienstein Concerts, which have been offering world-class musical performances since 1996. Between September and June, internationally renowned soloists, ensembles, and orchestras transform the Palace Chapel and Orangery into concert halls of the highest quality. The programmes of the chamber and orchestral concerts always devote particular attention to contemporary music alongside music from the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic periods.
Oranienstein Palace belongs to the German Armed Forces and serves as their barracks. If you would like to go on one of the guided tours, which take place at fixed times, please report to the guard shortly before the start of the tour at the visitors’ entrance. Please bring proof of identity with you.
