Welcome to Raiffeisenland

We welcome you to the heart of Raiffeisenland, in the heart of the Rhine-Westerwald Nature Park.
Visit the Raiffeisenhaus in Flammersfeld - former residential building and mayor's office

From 1848 to 1852 Friedrich W. Raiffeisen held the office of mayor of the "joint municipality" Flammersfeld in this house.
In 1849 he founded the "Flammersfelder Hülfsverein zur Unterstützung unbemittelter Landwirthe", the world's first loan association.
"Raiffeisen, its cooperatives and their charisma in the world are the only ones to benefit from this example. 2018 marked the 200th anniversary of the birthday of Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen (1818 - 1888). Born in the Westerwald region, he worked tirelessly to improve the situation of the rural population and created modern cooperative structures. The motto "Mensch Raiffeisen. Strong Idea" will be illuminated in the Raiffeisenhaus and the significance of Raiffeisen, its work and the topicality of its ideas will be made clear.
The Raiffeisenhaus has been extended with new rooms on UNESCO (Intangible World Heritage Site since 2018) and student cooperatives. A visit is worthwhile.
