Welcome to the Rheingau Wine Region

The Rheingau wine region is home to the world-famous Riesling vine. In wine circles it’s known as the ‘queen of the vines’ and not without reason. True joie de vivre moments are simply waiting to be experienced here on the vine-clad hills, in the enchanted woodlands and on the picturesque banks of the Rhine. This grand river has been imperative to the success of this small but excellent winegrowing area. That’s because it makes and abrupt change of course here from north to west for 35km, thus offering the south-facing vineyards the ideal climate and you a region of enjoyment. You will get a feel for the Rheingau and its laid-back lifestyle by going on walks and visiting timber-frame villages, wine shops and wine tasting stands. The Rheingau sets itself apart with its compactness and its unique concentration of sights and cultural attractions. Top of the cultural highlights is Eberbach Abbey, one of the most important cultural monuments in Europe.
