Immerse yourself in 500 years of history!
Tratzberg Castle is considered one of the most beautiful Renaissance castles in Austria - and one of the few that is still completely privately owned and is still permanently inhabited by the Goëss-Enzenberg family.
During the summer season, the castle can be visited on selected days on an exciting guided tour. There are impressive insights into the castle's past to be seen: originally furnished rooms, unusual and valuable craftsmanship, secret passages and one or two stories from the lives of former and prominent castle residents - such as Emperor Maximilian I. Audio guides lead you through the castle in 9 foreign languages. There is even a special fairytale tour for children, narrated by the friendly castle ghost ‘Tratzi’.
The ample car park is located in the valley, right next to the main road. The castle inn with its inviting guest garden is the starting point of the historical journey. You can reach the castle either on foot, on a short hike (approx. 20 minutes, slightly uphill) or, for a small fee, comfortably on the ‘Tratzberg Express’ slow train. This runs at regular intervals right up to the gates of Tratzberg Castle.
Opening hours:
Only open in the summer season between the end of March and the beginning of November.
Guided tours can be booked on opening days between 10:00 and 16:00 (start of the last guided tour). Please refer to the homepage for the current opening times.
Tip:
To avoid waiting times, it is advisable to book tickets in advance online via the castle website. This way you not only reserve a fixed tour time, but also receive a small discount on the regular admission fees!
Travel advice:
The satnav likes to suggest the ‘Tratzberg Siedlung’ in Jenbach as a destination. The castle is located exactly between Stans and Jenbach. So it is best to enter Tratzberg Castle (special destinations) in the sat nav or follow the good cultural signposting.
The car park is right next to the road in the valley. From there, the Tratzberg Express (slow train) runs up to the castle at regular intervals. Alternatively, the castle can also be reached by a short hike (approx. 20 minutes / uphill).
