Welcome to the Wine Region Kraichgau

As a land of 1000 hills the wine country of Kraichgau is also affectionately circumscribed. The Kraichgau is the wine region with the most different Terroir profiles. The selection is splendid. All together 30 types of white wines and 31 types of red wine are grown here. However, the white wine share with just about 60 percent clearly exceeds the share of red wine. To the main grape varieties belong beside the Burgundy vine the Riesling and the Müller-Thurgau.

In addition to several cooperatives 88 wineries, a producer's community and eight wine producer's process wine from the Kraichgau. However, the family wineries have always been of exemplary importance, and have always represented a distinctive style. Did you know that the first German wine that Lufthansa took over the clouds - called the "Grand Etage" - stems from the Kraichgau?

Wine has always season in the Kraichgau: Throughout the year, winegrowers present their wines in wine stores and open cellars, in beautiful restaurants or in taverns selling homegrown wine, in wineries or directly in the vineyard.
