The Mediterranean climate and the excellent soils produce noble wines that have won many awards. Varieties such as Gutedel and the various Burgundy grapes are at home here. Baden is also one of the most important Pinot Noir growing regions in the world.

Inspirations from Alsace and Northern Switzerland are noticeable in the Markgräfler cuisine and provide a wide variety of culinary delights.
