If you love the special flair of idyllic half-timbered towns, Herrenberg will inspire you. The old town, rebuilt after a town fire in 1635, is listed as a whole and has been almost completely preserved to this day.
The highlight is the Herrenberg market square with its completely enclosed half-timbered ensemble. Visible from afar, the 700-year-old Gothic collegiate church with its massive west tower and Baroque tower dome is enthroned above the town's houses. The bell museum in the tower of the collegiate church is unique in Europe with more than 30 bells from nine centuries. Also worth experiencing is the 50-part carillon, a carillon whose melodies sound at certain times. During guided tours and concerts, bells and carillons may not only be watched, but also enjoyed in tonal and action.
Go on exploratory expedition: an informative half-timbered path leads you with displays and audio clips through Herrenbergs wonderful old town.
