Welcome to Rastatt

Once a prince wanted to show the whole world how successful and important he was, he built a castle. Not small and inconspicuous, no, splendor and pomp should not be missing. The Residenzschloss in Rastatt is such an example: At the beginning of the 18th century, its builder Margrave Ludwig Wilhelm of Baden-Baden and Margravine Sybilla Augusta created a representative Baroque castle that impressed in terms of architecture, painting and stucco.

Only a few kilometers away, the pleasure palace Favorite originated, which reflects the extraordinary art taste of Sybilla Augusta. Fortunately, both castles survived the World Wars unscathed and can be explored in many ways.

But that's what Rastatt is all about: You can expect diverse cultural offers and a colorful variety of stores. A special highlight is the biennial international street theater festival "tête à tête", which turns Rastatt's streets and squares into open stages.
