Welcome to the Wöltingerode Monastery

Experience tradition: Wöltingerode Monastery Estate

Almost 1000 years have passed since the foundation of Wöltingerode Monastery, and yet the impressive complex has lost none of its appeal. Mighty buildings and ancient trees create a wonderful ambience, and the large church tower, visible from afar, invites you to visit the lovingly tended monastery estate. More than 330 years ago, the Cistercian nuns introduced the art of distilling to Wöltingerode and produced exquisite liqueurs, wholesome bitters and the already legendary Edelkorn Monastery, which is stored in wooden barrels, from fine wheat brandy. The monastery distillery has remained true to this tradition to this day.

The monastery estate offers all this

Visitors can experience the unique ambience of the distillery and the high quality of the award-winning products on a guided tour. A visit to the farm shop in the old kiln is worthwhile afterwards. Other facilities are also available to guests: Klosterkrug restaurant with beer garden, monastery hotel, salmon centre, monastery church, monastery apiary, monastery herb garden and the deer enclosure.
